Time Management

This little post has to do with writing, but it also has to do with life in general.  When I was in college, one of my business classes dealt with time management and delegation and some other things that I have, I’m ashamed to say, forgotten about.  Time management effects us all.  What do we spend out time doing?  Are we spending are time wisely?  Are we wasting time?

I admit, I waste time sometimes, we all do.  I love to sleep that extra ten or twenty minutes.  I channel surf even though I don’t watch a lot of TV to begin with.  I do love HGTV and The Soup, but that’s another story.  My point is–where is the time going?

I really get to thinking about time management when I realize I have spent three to four hours researching and an hour writing.  I could have gotten the information I needed in an hour, but I just ‘looked’ around.  So, I say no more.  I am about to create a new time management sheet for myself and see just how much time I waste.  I do this every so often…I like to do it.  I do this and I also make lists of things I need to do in a certain amount of time.

 

Take for example this morning…I’m about to clean house…ohh so much fun…I know everyone is so jealous.  Before I ever start I make a list of what needs to be done and I get my egg timer out.  These are my tools for cleaning house.  I make my list and then I set a certain amount of time for me to complete this task.  I’m competitive, yes, yes I am, and I just liek to see if I can do a task in twenty minutes when I gave myself thirty to begin with.  This may sound a little off the wall, but the house work usually gets done in half the time.

 

So, just think that by the time you read this…I will be cleaning away, without and IPod because I’ve lost the charger and thinking about the reward at the end….What is the reward you may ask.  Well, I’ll give you a hint.  Murphy James is about to get his happily ever after and I’m about to type “The End’ on another sizzling story my little brain came up with.
